This tour will be by me virtually from my home in Philadelphia with digital resources
This is my Live Virtual Tour using 'live video conferencing software' introducing you via some short videos to a few of the significant buildings and events that happened here in Philadelphia leading up to the creation of the United States. Beginning at Elfreth's Alley, the oldest, continuously occupied residential street in the United States, we will see the 18th century homes of trades people, then the places where the 1st and 2nd Continental Congresses met, where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were written and signed, and where the U. S. Capital resided from 1790 to 1800. We will also see the first all marble building in the United States.
We will learn about some architectural styles, such as Georgian and Federal as well as Greek Revival. We will also learn how many of these brick buildings were constructed.
This tour winds its way through Old City stopping at Carpenter's Hall, Independence Hall, ending at the Second Bank of the United States.
The tour includes:
- Check in time at the beginning
- Get to know your guide
- William Penn, his city, and the oldest residential street, Elfreth's Alley
